Funding Opportunities: Projects and Programmes
National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative Research Call 3 Deadline 13 September 2013.
The National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative (NAEDI) is a partnership between the Department of Health, National Cancer Action Team and Cancer Research UK. It aims to promote earlier diagnosis of cancer, increasing access to optimal treatment and thereby improving survival rates and reducing cancer mortality. NAEDI Research Call 3 will accept high quality, researcher driven project grant applications on any topic within the field of early cancer diagnosis including the following key questions where the evidence is currently lacking:
• Investigating reasons for late presentation (to primary care or A&E) and low uptake of screening.
• Developing effective interventions to prompt change, at both individual and systemic levels, to reduce late presentation and low uptake of screening.
• Investigating reasons for delays occurring within primary care and onward referral.
NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research Programme – Researcher-led work stream Deadline 3 October 2013, 1pm.
The Health Services and Delivery Research Programme invites research proposals which aim to produce rigorous and relevant evidence on the quality, accessibility and organisation of health services, and improve the quality, effectiveness and accessibility of the NHS. This includes both primary research and evidence syntheses, depending on the existing research and the most appropriate way of responding to important knowledge gaps.
NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research Deadline 15 October 2013, 13:00
The NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research programme invites Stage 1 research proposals to develop individual programmes. Research funded through a Programme Grant typically consists of an interrelated group of high quality projects focused on a coherent theme and hence require multidisciplinary approaches, including clinical, health economics, statistics, qualitative and behavioural sciences, to ensure that research objectives can be met. Individual awards are for a maximum of £2 million over a period of three to five years. The amount of funding awarded is determined by the scale and nature of the research activity to be conducted.
Programme Development Grants Deadline 15 October 2013.
Applications are invited for Programme Development Grant funding. PDGs are designed to increase the rate and number of successful applications for a full Programme Grant by supporting the completion of the necessary preparatory work to suitably position the research team to submit a competitive Stage 2 Programme Grant application. Individual awards are for a maximum of £100k over a period of six to eighteen months. The amount of funding awarded is determined by the scale and nature of the research activity to be conducted. Successful applicants, on completion of their development work, proceed straight to a Stage 2 Programme Grant application.
