The Council of the All Party University Group has announced the launch of a new series of parliamentary lectures. The purpose of the lectures, Frontiers of Knowledge is to bring leading research teams to Parliament to explain their work to a cross-party audience of MPs and Peers, as a celebration of the strength and diversity of research in UK universities.

The lectures will provide a unique opportunity for researchers to present their ideas to key policymakers and engage directly with a large number of parliamentarians, thus influence public policy debates. The events will also publicise the research project on a high profile platform that has the potential to attract media coverage.

In 2013-14, the Group will present three lectures and all will take place in the Houses of Parliament. The first lecture will take place on 19 November 2013 and proposals from research individuals or teams within UK universities to give a lecture on their work are being invited.

Three proposals drawn from the arts and humanities, sciences, and social sciences will be selected by the Council. The individuals or research teams responsible for the proposals will then be invited to deliver a 40 minute lecture, followed by questions.

Proposals should be submitted by the closing date of 15 July 2013.
