Jordan Stebbings, who is currently a final year student on the BA (Hons) Contemporary Lens Media course at the University of Lincoln, will see his film hit the big screen at Screentest: The National Student Film Festival.

The festival is dedicated to the exhibition and promotion of aspiring British talent, and will take place at London’s South Bank University over the weekend of 22nd – 24th March 2013.

Screentest provides an opportunity to view pioneering student work, while networking with industry-leading professionals and other hard-working, passionate student filmmakers.

Jordan explained: “When I read the email from the festival organisers saying my film would be screened, I was delighted as the event is such a big opportunity and making the film was such a wonderful experience for me.”

Jordan’s documentary film, (Re)Learn to Swim, tells the story of Helen Dolphin. At just 22 years old, she contracted Meningococcal Septicaemia and was forced to spend months in hospital where she had all four of her limbs amputated. She went on to make a remarkable recovery however, and now continues to work full time while swimming five times a week with East Anglian Swallowtails and The City of Norwich Swimming Club. Jordan’s film documents her extraordinary progress.

Jordan said: “Making the film was a wonderful experience. Just meeting Helen was very inspirational, and then when we swam together I was blown away. I created the film when I was at studying for my degree at the University of Lincoln, and I am so grateful for the support of my tutors. Their guidance was invaluable and I was thrilled with the end result. This was the first film I made as part of my course, and the whole process has made me into a very enthusiastic film-maker.”
