Demand for European Research Council Starting Grants increased by 50% in the sixth round of the competition. A total of 3329 proposals were submitting this year compared to 2169 in the last round.

The breakdown of proposals by the three ERC domains was: 1502 proposals in ‘Physical Sciences and Engineering’, 1057 in ‘Life Sciences’ and 770 in ‘Social Sciences and Humanities’.
