Snakes and ladders, Where’s Wally? and playing on the Wii were just some of the activities children enjoyed as part of a mix of games and developmental research studies at the Summer Scientist event hosted by University of Lincoln psychologists.
The researchers will use the data from the research studies to discover more about human behaviour.
Dr Fenja Ziegler, senior lecturer from the University’s School of Psychology said: “It is the second year we have run the scheme and the take up has been fantastic. It’s really about involving people in our work and showing them the things we get up to in Psychology.
“The studies all look at how children do things and then go on to determine whether it is because they have been taught to or because they have developed the reasoning themselves.
“But it’s all carried out in a very fun environment and we’ve had a lot of children really not wanting to leave at the end of their session.”
Marion Beard took her seven-year-old grandson Alastair Niclair to the Friday morning session.
She said: “It’s been really interesting and with Alastair liking any activity involving computers he’s really enjoyed it.
“It’s been lovely to hear the explanations behind the various games. We would definitely come again, it’s been a very worthwhile morning.”
The Summer Scientist scheme is planned to run again next year.
