On Monday 9 July, the European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, will announce the final and biggest work programme of the Seventh Framework Programme for research and development (FP7).
The Commissioner will present the strategic priorities of the calls in a press briefing on 9 July. It is expected that the official publication of the first 2013 calls will be on the day following the announcement. Overall, the 2013 Work Programmes will have a budget of around EUR 8 billion.
The 2013 Work Programmes will be the last to be launched under FP7. The majority of calls will be launched on 10 July, with some calls, for example for Marie Curie Actions and the European Research Council to be launched later in 2012 or 2013. No Work Programmes will be published in the summer of 2013 and the first funding calls under Horizon 2020 are tentatively planned for January 2014.
