According to an article published in the latest issue of Research Europe, Denmark aims to have a partial agreement in place on Horizon 2020 by May 2012. The agreement, which would cover the scope and structure of Horizon 2020, would form the basis of future negotiations with the European Parliament and Commission.
“It is our main priority to reach partial general agreement on Horizon 2020,” says Lise Lotte Toft, the chief adviser at the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation. “We would like to push this through, so we can tell the European Parliament that we agree on the overall structure.” Toft admits that this goal is ambitious.
Negotiations on the proposal for Horizon 2020, published by the Commission at the end of November last year, are currently underway. A closed ministerial meeting on Horizon, which will reportedly include representatives from the US and China, will be held in Copenhagen on the 1st February.
