The Higher Education Academy is inviting bids from UK higher education institutions to host one or more doctoral studentships for the academic year 2011/12.
The HEA Doctoral Programme forms part of the Academy’s strategy to undertake research to develop pedagogical knowledge and evidence-based practice in HE. In this academic year, seven doctoral studentships are available.
Topics should relate to discipline-specific learning and teaching research or to interdisciplinary/generic pedagogical research. They should show a clear benefit to the understanding or development of learning and teaching practice in HE, or to learning and teaching policy. Research should be aligned with one or more of the HEA’s themes: employability, assessment and feedback, flexible learning, internationalisation, retention and success (including widening access, gender, and transition issues), reward and recognition, education for sustainable development.
Sean Mackney, Senior Deputy Chief Executive at the HEA comments:
The HEA champions excellent learning and teaching in higher education. Working with the sector to support and disseminate new research is vital if we are to continue to meet the learning and teaching needs of our diverse student population into the future.
The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 10 February 2012.
