From today (19th Sept) the University Research Office and Enterprise @ Lincoln have merged to become Research & Enterprise.
The new joint department will provide support for research and enterprise income generation activity, including research grants and contracts, KTPs, IP and academic enterprise, as well as housing the University’s careers and employability service for students and graduates. We will continue to provide professional support to academic and administrative staff across the faculties and colleges on research funding opportunities and proposal development as before. We’ll also continue to blog about the latest research news and opportunities as well as promoting the exciting and innovative research taking place at Lincoln.
The newly merged department will allow us to work smartly to identify further funding opportunities for applied and close to market research building on basic funded research, including knowledge exchange and commercialisation opportunities. Over the coming months we will be working to identify areas where we can add value to existing activity.
For example, we are currently starting to develop a programme of joint staff workshops which will aspire to cover the full range of research and enterprise activity, from Writing a Research Bid to Building Networks and Collaborations, from Managing a Research Project to Working with Business. We’ll let you know more about this as it develops, and we hope to hold consultation meetings with representatives from all of the faculties and colleges on how to make the Research & Enterprise support service better.
Where you can find us: You may remember I blogged about the Research Office move into the Enterprise @ Lincoln building last year. Glen, Annalisa and I are still based on the first floor but expect to move up to join the rest of the team on the second floor at some point over the next few weeks. Our telephone extensions will remain the same. If you’d like to talk to any of us about the changes or about how we can support your research in any way, please contact us and drop in for a coffee in the ground floor Cafe.
