The UK Research Office, which also acts as the UK National Contact Point (NCP) for the ERC, has organised a series of information events for researchers who are interested in applying for the ERC Starting Grants.
ERC Starting Independent Researcher Grants (ERC Starting Grants) aim to provide critical and adequate support to the independent careers of excellent researchers, whatever their nationality, who are at the stage of establishing or consolidating their own independent research team or programme. To be eligible for the ERC-2012-StG call, the Principal Investigator must be 2 – 12 years after the completion of their PhD, which can be extended up to 16.5 years in certain cases.
Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Events will take place at:

- London School of Economics, Thursday 8th September 2011
- University of Edinburgh, Friday 16th September 2011
- London School of Economics, Wednesday 21st September 2011
