The European Science Foundation (ESF) has issued its 2010 call for Exploratory Workshops with a deadline of 29th April 2010. This call funds workshops which aim to explore new areas or topics, or open up new avenues of interdisciplinary research. It funds subjects across a wide range of disciplines, including life and physical sciences, social science, humanities, and engineering.

The focus of the scheme is on meetings aiming to open up new directions in research or to explore emerging research fields with potential impact on new developments in science. Proposals should demonstrate the potential  for initiating follow-up research activities and/or developing future collaborative actions. Interdisciplinary topics are encouraged.

Note that this call will fund events taking place in 2011.
